Plus-size bra ad is banned on American TV, considered raunchy
A new plus size bra advert from the well-known plus-size lingerie brand Lane Bryant has been banned on ABC as too raunchy for prime time TV.
The new ad starring Ashley Graham was set to air during a break in Dancing With The Stars last week but ABC refused to show the ad claiming the full-sized model’s cleavage was “excessive.”
Lane Bryant stated they take it as discrimination against larger models.
We knew the ads were sexy, but they are not salacious,” Lane Bryant said. “What we didn’t know was that the networks, which regularly run Victoria’s Secret and Playtex advertising on the very shows from which we’re restricted, would object to a different view of beauty.”
ABC declined to comment.
Check out the ad below. Do you also think it’s too sexy for TV?

This commercial is not raunchy at all, and no different than any Victoria secret advertisement you see on television. I think that most Hollywood is scared to embrace the fact that you don’t have to be a size 4 to be considered sexually desirable by men. They have tried so long to conform women’s views of self beauty this would be putting a lot of their work “out of the window”. There are extremes with both being too skinny or too overweight, but I think the real idea is to make a woman, no matter the color or size, feel wanted, desired and beautiful. This commercial is fine, the woman is gorgeous, and the lingerie will sell. What more does ABC need?
