How To Wash Cashmere Underwear

Cashmere is a luxurious fabric so the garments made of it can be quite costly. Lingerie and men’s underwear made of cashmere require delicate care. Always check out labels before washing any cashmere garments. Woven cashmere require dry clean only while the other types of cashmere can only be hand-washed. Since cashmere is such a delicate fabric do not wring or twist it to remove the excess of water as the underwear may loose its shape.
Use very mild detergent or soap to wash cashmere underwear. Wash it in tepid water and treat the garments gently. To remove excess water from underwear gently squeeze it but do not wring or twist it. Dry flat on a clean towel and do not hang cashmere underwear as it will loose its shape. Avoid keeping cashmere underwear and clothes near heaters, radiators, in direct sunlight as it is bad for a garment.

More and more manufacturers are offering cashmere that can be washed in a washing machine. Be sure to check the labels to ensure your garments can be machine-washed. If in doubt go with hand wash. Avoid staining from makeup, deodorants, perfume and food.

To properly store your cashmere underwear when it’s out of season put in a cotton bag or some box made of breathable material and put some moth repellents such as cedar wood in there to prevent moths eating your garments. Store all of your cashmere clothes washed and dry to prevent moths and other insects and air them from time to time to get rid of any insects that got into it.

Cashmere should be combed with special cashmere comb to remove loose fuzz that can cause piling. If you’ve spotted some fuzz balls on the garment you can easily remove it with your fingers or a special de-fuzzing device or a fabric shaver.
