German Female Workers Were Obliged to Wear Bras

Yup, it’s been done legally so after the court ruled a case on airport requirements for grooming and dressing of airport security personnel in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The court has ruled that the bosses in all workplaces  in a state can oblige female workers to wear bras and keep their fingernails no longer than half-a-centimeter, while men can keep their beards as long as they are trimmed and well groomed.

Being told to wear a bra and to keep fingernails to shorter than half-a-centimeter does not impinge on personal rights.

It is not a disproportionate impairment of personal rights,

ruled the Cologne court.

Bras should be of white or nude colors not to be seen under the clothes. The bra can be replaced with an undershirt. While employees considered the ruling too harsh the court has favored the company’s rulebook with an exception for wearing wigs and forbidding the companies to ban specified hair color and nail polish shades.
