Lingerie giant La Senza has chosen Lauren Budd to model for their 2009-2010 Lingerie Lookbook.

This collection is more about negligees, babydolls, teddies and silk nighties than actually corsets, bras and panties. Nevertheless, the lookbook looks very La Senza in its elegance, beauty, feminine chic and subtle sexuality oozing from every lingerie piece presented.

No wonder the company peaked a soldier to cover the campaign, but no ordinary soldier rather the 22 year old Miss England 2009 runner-up Corporal Katrina Hodge, who’s nicknamed “Combat Barbie” by her colleagues.
Katrina is a part-time model and a full time army soldier who agreed to pose in sexy lingerie for the campaign to draw public attention to army and encourage more women to join the armed forces.

I am enjoying the attention and profile but my job is still as an army soldier,” Ms. Hodge told about the La Senza campaign. “I love the army life and if this encourages more women to join up then that would be brilliant”, she added saying she hoped “it encourages other high street stores to offer discounts to men and women in the armed forces.”

Women with bigger breasts now have to pay more for bras of their size. This is a complete nonsense to my mind.

And no other brands or producers make their clients pay more for something that costs the same amount of money.

Women are going to confront M&S boss Sir Stuart Rose for what they see as unfair discrimination against them.

The discontent was started after M&S started charging an extra £2 for bigger bras stating they require more engineering and materials.

The campaign ‘Busts 4 Justice’ was set up on Facebook and soon found support from thousands of bigger-breasted women. Now ladies have bought shares in M&S to allow them access to the AGM.

The anger has been provoked by the leak of an internal email containing the information that the chain will not bow to pressure to end the ‘big boob surcharge’. As the company confirms it cannot afford to decrease the price.

According to the email from head of product PR Tania Littlehales, sent to a colleague, they ‘aren’t changing prices, especially in this climate.’

Beckie Williams, who is a co-founder of Busts 4 Justice, says the women have held talks with the M&S lingerie team but didn’t get the result they wanted.

Busts 4 Justice supporters say:

We are very disappointed with their decision. They haven’t listened to us as customers, so now maybe they’ll have to listen to us as shareholders.’

Marks & Spencer is Britain’s biggest lingerie seller so we want them to change their pricing for all the women affected. I still don’t think they can justify this charge since many of their rivals charge the same price regardless of size.’

The higher price applies for bras of DD and larger. However, Miss Williams, who is a member of the campaign, said this does not necessarily reflect a greater use of materials.

There is enormous frustration about this,’ she said. ‘We feel we are bashing our heads against a brick wall.

‘We have been taken by surprise about how angry women are about this unfair charge. It just shows how much of an emotional issue having big boobs is for a lot of women.’

‘People may joke about it, but bras are a sensitive subject. A well-fitted one can improve a woman’s self-esteem.’
A spokesman for M&S stated the store offered the most comprehensive DD+ collection that is one of the most competitively priced on the high street.

He added:

We design the collections to provide as much support and comfort as possible. This includes special design features such as wider straps, greater support in the cup and additional material around the back area to ensure the delicate breast tissue is properly supported and protected.’

Customers have told us they are happy to pay a small premium (between £1.50 and £2) for the specialist work to ensure suitable level of support, innovation and technology that goes into the bras.’

Well, probably there is some truth in that but let me remind you that M&S rival La Senza charges a uniform rate regardless of size.

And Lisa Bond, La Senza’s marketing director, said:

‘We don’t believe that you should discriminate against women because of the size of their chest.’

To my mind M&S will just lose many of their female customers as this is very unfair to change the price due to something that is given to you by nature.
