The R-Pant inspired by Robert Pattinson is said to have been designed to be worn underneath skinny trousers and jeans that are very popular with men nowadays.

Richard Beale, head of merchandising at Marks and Spencer store, said:

Over the last three years we’ve seen an increase in the popularity of hipsters. The new range is designed to appeal to a young, fashion-savvy customer.”

Oli Arnold, style director of Men’s Health magazine, told the Guardian:

I hate seeing the waistbands of men’s pants poking out of the top of their jeans. Do Marks and Spencer even sell skinny jeans? Maybe lots of women will buy them for their husbands and boyfriends though.”

Although the line would be impossible without Robert Pattinson the actor refused to become the face of the collection and model it for customers.

It is a fact that one in four men in Britain purchases underwear from Marks and Spencer, so the line is to be a hit, especially if guys take into account that Pattinson has also bought underwear at the store.

The new campaign also features tennis pro Fernando Verdasco and Japanese athlete Hidetoshi Nakata, but Kellan and Mehcad’s ads are the first to be revealed.

In the new ads the actors are spotted wearing CK’s underwear that’s made of cotton modal (for softness and breathability) and premium microfiber. Every pair of pants features an embossed ‘X’ over the Calvin Klein logo on the waistband’s front patch.

As to the ad campaign, CK Underwear CCO Bob Mazzoli said the company was “thinking bold, graphic, and provocative, as always.”

The campaign was shot in New York City by Mikael Jansson. Darius Khondji shot digital films that will feature Kellan and the other new models on a new CK website to be revealed later this month.

The first ads will run in Vanity Fair starting March 9, 2010. They will also be featured in other magazines later this year.

Make Me A Supermodel contestant Jonathan Waud has been named the new face and body of Australia’s men underwear and swimwear brand Ristefsky Macheda.

He’s featured in the company’s latest campaigns sporting swimming trunks and shorts as well as sexy briefs and boxers, though the designs don’t look very much different from the previous collections of RM.

According to Ristefsky Macheda co-founder Stephen Ristefsky, Jonathan is the perfect choice to represent RM as he’s masculine, athletic and has great sex appeal.

When we saw Jonathan we though he was a perfect choice for the new collection. Jonathan has a great look and is a perfect fit for the RM image,” he added.

David teamed up with Adidas for Fall/Winter 2010 Adidas Originals by Originals underwear collection, WWD.com revealed.

David enjoyed modeling for Armani immensely,” The Sun reported. “But now he wants to branch out on his own. The pants he modeled became a runaway success and now David wants to cash in on the effect he has had. His range will be one of high-quality, desirable items.”

For his line Beckham partnered with Undefeated sneaker boutique owner James Bond to present a collection featuring updated American sportswear as well as reinterpretations of Adidas’s iconic styles.

If you intend to see David model his own designs in the new ad campaign, get ready for a major lingerie disappointment as he won’t grace the campaign.

Beckham is still an official face of Emporio Armani Men’s Underwear but as soon as January 2010 he’ll be replaced by his major soccer competition Cristiano Ronaldo as the new official face and body of the campaign.

It has been reported that Real Madrid soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has replaced David Beckham as the face of Emporio Armani Men’s Underwear campaign.
Ronaldo will be featured in Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaigns for EA underwear and Armani Jeans.
David Beckham became the Emporio Armani spokesperson in January 2008.

And if there is the demand there will always be the supply. So, Selfridges in London, for example, has responded with a range designed exclusively for guysized legs.

The new tights for men, dubbed ‘mantyhose’, are made by lingerie brand Unconditional and are a tough 120 denier thickness. They are made in black, beige and charcoal and cost £70 ($115).

As men explain, mantyhose are mostly worn under suits to keep the legs warm and give the hips and thighs a nice smooth shape.

David Walker-Smith, Selfridges’ director of menswear and beauty, commented:

This winter the city’s most stylish men will have a secret weapon hidden in their trousers.

The “mantyhose” are extremely versatile and we expect men to be wearing them not only as a way to give legs an extra boost of warmth on the chilliest nights, but as a true style statement.’

Tights are not new to the male wardrobe. They were worn by the stronger half of the humanity for a while until they fell out of favour over the past 200 years.
Nowadays tight are preferred by those men who work outside in the freezing temperatures and as time shows more and more men of different occupations start wearing those too.

London-based hosiery designer Harisnya has set up a dedicated website on the topic, filled with style tips and discussion topics.

He said:

Male pantyhose can be worn for health, sports and fashion. So on the website we aim to show that pantyhose could be a regular clothing item for men,’ he said.

As a fashion expert I can say that men fashion does shifts to more feminine side. Male handbags are in plenty now and are called ‘manbags’, leggings for men known as ‘meggings’ and eyeliner for men described as ‘ guyliner’ all proving popular.

According to Jason Scarlatti, Creative Director for 2(x)ist, the FORM collection focuses on underwear styled shapewear instead of popular shapewear tops. Briefs and trunks (selling at apprx. $18.00 and $24.00, respectively) are supplied with a waistband that helps “turn lovehandles into abs.”

Moreover, the company’s goal was to create an affordable collection for the lingerie market.

The first concept waistbands became available in late July and the rest of the collection are available this month.
